More than 1 in 4 Australians report experiencing sexual abuse before they turn 18. More than 6 million women and men.

Child sexual abuse and sexual violence is a national problem that demands real action urgently. It requires a comprehensive, well-resourced and cohesive tangible response.

My experience of an outdated and bureaucratic Victorian justice system has been the catalyst for me seek reform to help others.

A justice system that facilitates this devastating outcome fails its chief purpose, and the community it serves.

There is a lot to do, this is just the beginning.

Sentencing Reform in Victoria

I am seeking the unanimous support of the Victorian Parliament to lead meaningful legislative reform. Two key changes I am determined to achieve:

1.  Remove a little known loophole in the Sex Offenders Registration Act that allows convicted sex offenders to avoid lawful reporting obligations and leave the country.

2.  Strengthen sentencing practices and abolish suspended sentencing in Victoria with respect to historical child sex offences, consistent with the recommendations of the Royal Commission, bringing Victoria into line with other states such as NSW.

Governments respond to the volume of public opinion, the burning platform, the crocodile closest to the boat. I need your help to be that crocodile.

I started an online petition calling on the Victorian Government to support making changes to the state's sentencing of convicted child sex offenders.
